Total Stations and Theodolites
Total Stations and Theodolites can be used to measure discreet points. They are made of
several components. First is a mechanism to determine the azimuth of the point of interest
compared to the device. Second is a mechanism to determine the elevation of the point of interest compared to the device. The third mechanism determines the distance to the point
interest. Optics or time-offlight lasers are commonly used to determine the distance.
Options that insure that the devices is level are common.
